The American Honor Society of Global Excellence

Standards

How merit is evaluated through clear, evidence-based, and context-aware criteria.

The Purpose of Our Standards

Our standards protect the meaning of recognition by combining clear evidence with responsible human review. They are intended to be rigorous, understandable, and adaptable to different educational systems.

Proposed Core Benchmarks

Academic ExcellenceA proposed benchmark of an 85% overall average or approximately a 3.3 GPA, evaluated from the complete transcript and interpreted within the applicant's grading system.
Community ServiceA proposed minimum of 20 documented volunteer hours per year, with emphasis on meaningful and sustained service.
Ethics and IntegrityEvidence of responsible conduct, accurate documentation, and an appropriate recommendation or verification from a professor, teacher, supervisor, or administrator.
Research and ScholarshipParticipation in a research project, scholarly project, academic workshop, presentation, publication, or comparable intellectual contribution.
LeadershipDocumented initiative, teamwork, accountability, mentorship, or constructive influence that benefits others.
Context and GrowthReview of improvement, resilience, opportunity, and barriers so that standards are applied fairly rather than mechanically.

Evidence and Verification

Applicants may be asked for transcripts, service records, recommendation letters, project evidence, portfolios, identification, or other relevant documentation. Reviewers may request clarification and should assess authenticity, relevance, consistency, and duration.

False statements, fabricated evidence, plagiarism, or material misrepresentation may result in denial, suspension, or revocation under the published review and appeal procedures.

Fairness and Continuous Improvement

No single benchmark automatically guarantees recognition. The complete record, the quality of evidence, the applicant's context, and the published rubric should be considered together. Proposed thresholds will remain clearly labeled until formally adopted.
